From
the Botanical Gardens to the Tijuca Forest Rio has a lot
to offer visitors interested in nature. The Tijuca Forest
in the middle of the city is so vast people have been
known to get lost in it for days so don't take it lightly
if you consider yourself an experienced hiker and are
thinking about entering it without a guide. From the mountains
in this forest you get tremendous views of the South side
of Rio below.
There are spickets of mountain water along the way to
stop and refresh one's self. People go
off the ramp in Pedra Bonita. The Botanical Gardens is
found right off the lake Rodrigo de Freitas and makes
for a nice afternoon plan if you got to much sun at the
beach the day before.
Another option would be to walk around Flamengo Park but
avoid it at night as its proximity to downtown make it
a little sketchy after nightfall. Now the most famous
parks are
and
and simply cannot be missed by anyone in Rio for their
first time. If you don't feel like straying too far from
where you're staying there are always the parks right
around LAGOA offering sports, recreation, and food kiosks.
