About
15 miles from LEBLON
and IPANEMA
lies Barra da Tijuca or just simply Barra. It is Rio's
longest beach stretching for 12 miles. The water is cleaner
here a major factor in drawing a lot of the locals from
other parts of the city.
At the beginning of Barra the beaches are packed with
POUPOZUDAS
and young beautiful people. Restaurants and bars opened
by soccer players and entertainment stars line the beach.
Further out, you'll find some secluded beaches more suited
for surfing. Barra has a South Florida feel to it, with
big shopping malls beautiful new high-rise buildings and
a huge recently built commercial center.
On the drive out there you'll catch a glimpse of Rocinha,
Latin America's largest slum and get a great view of the
Pedra da Gavea, the world's tallest rock monolith, right
off a shore, in the world.
